WWIII, 165 Banks on the Brink of Collapse, Iran’s Nuclear Program...

USAWatchdog.com – The Middle East continues to inch ever closer to a conflict that could turn into World War III. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said, this week, sanctions are not working on Iran; and the U.S. Senate is talking about a "time table" to stop Iran's nuclear program. A new bi-partisan resolution says that containing a nuclear armed Iran is not an option. These are just two more signs that war in the Middle East is approaching. The only question is when?

Lamestream Media are fine towing the State's line on taking out Iran, but never question the motives. What happened to actual journalism? The big media outlets rarely do more than parrot what the politicians feed them anymore...

Meanwhile, the UN condemned Syria for its brutal and deadly crackdown on protesters. The UN and Arab League are calling for Bashar Assad, Syria's leader, to step down. That will not happen without a fight, and Iran and Russia are reportedly continuing to arm Syria. In other news, President Barack Obama released his 2013 budget proposal this week, and it is chocked full of new taxes and cuts to deductions. The budget calls for things like taxes for 401-K plans and health insurance premiums and limits to charitable gifts and other write offs. According to a new report from Senator Rob Portman, the U.S.is set to hit the $16.4 trillion debt ceiling before Election Day. The country is burning $132 billion a month.

I can't believe the US is so grossly inefficient and wasteful. I'm less surprised that lamestream state media have ignored the precarious economic situation...

Slog.com is reporting at least two big banks are planning on a Greek Default by March 23. The only question worth asking after that is who's next–Italy, Spain or Portugal, anyone? Foreclosures are going to spike as a result of the $26 billion "robo-signing" deal. That's what Realtytrac.com reported yesterday. USAWatchdog.com predicted this on Monday. This may be one of the reasons that Thestreet.com is reporting 165 U.S. banks are on the brink of collapse.

Is the US far behind on a default. How long has it been since it has been able to pay any of it's debt, beyond simply servicing it?

Israel plot to blame Iran for Bangkok bomb blast fails

The efforts by the Zionist's officials, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in particular, to blame Iran for the Bangkok bomb blast came to nothing.

In line with this issue, Iran's Ambassador to Bangkok Madjid Bizmark held a meeting on Wednesday with an official at the Thai foreign ministry stressing that the Islamic Iran has always been the victim of terrorism.

He also reiterated that nations should be cautious against the plots hatched by the US and the Zionist regime.

Soon after this talks, the Permanent Secretary of Thailand's Foreign Ministry Sihasak Phuangketkeow held a meeting with foreign envoys serving in Thailand to brief them on the incident.

During the meeting, Phuangketkeow called on the envoys to trust only formation that is released by the official sources in Thailand.

Phuangketkeow also declared that the Tuesday Bangkok terrorist attacks bear no testimony to accuse Tehran.

The Thai officials have said that they are investigating the drive for the explosions in Bangkok.

They have never accused the Islamic Republic of Iran of those attacks.

Chumpol Silaparcha, deputy of Thailand's premier, announced on Thursday that the Bangkok explosions have not been terrorist attacks.

The three accused of the blasts have not intended to mount any attack, said Silaparcha.

During the three explosions in Thailand on Tuesday, four Thai people were wounded and the constructed bombs caused slight damage.

Ron Paul wants an end to the War on Drugs

Texas Congressman Ron Paul took his campaign for the presidency to the state of Washington this week. From there, the Republican Party hopeful continued to tackle issues the rest of the GOP isn't taking into consideration.

Congressman Paul has put himself in a different category among his party rivals by continuously being outspoken on subjects left unscathed by rhetoric repeatedly revived by other Republicans. He has been the only one of the frontrunners to challenge the National Defense Authorization Act and remains alone in his opposition for foreign policy with ideas that are deemed dangerous by others.

From Seattle, Washington, this week, the candidate came out against something his supports have long rallied in opposition to: the American War on Drugs.

Paul pulled his campaign bus over in Vancouver, Washington on Thursday, and addressed around 1,000 supporters at a rally there, just across the state line from Portland, Oregon. The congressman went after issues like America's ongoing wars, which have been a trademark of his campaign so far. Also discussed, however, was an issue that while Paul has pressed on about throughout his career in politics, but he has remained relatively mum on so far this election year. Speaking in Vancouver, Paul revitalized his insistence that the US government's war on drugs is a ridiculous waste of money and infringement on civil liberties.

The legalization of marijuana for recreation purposes is expected to be on the ballot later this year in the state of Washington. In not so many words, Paul told supporters he stood by what should be the right of every American to do what they please with their bodies, even if it includes administering drugs.

Ancient Yellowstone Eruptions not from Supervolcano

Ancient giant eruptions in the Pacific Northwest may actually have been caused by the tearing of a titanic slab of rock and not the supervolcano underlying Yellowstone National Park, scientists now suggest.

Supervolcanoes are capable of eruptions dwarfing anything ever recorded by humanity. There are roughly a dozen supervolcanoes on Earth today, one of which sits beneath Yellowstone National Park.

Nazification Of America Is Almost Complete

This article has a paranoid skew, but some valid and scary points.

The United States of America is becoming more like Nazi Germany every single day. In fact, the Nazification of America is almost complete. The parallels between Nazi Germany and the United States of today are going to absolutely shock many of you. Most Americans simply have never learned what life was really like back in Nazi Germany. Under Adolf Hitler, Germany was a Big Brother totalitarian police state that ruthlessly repressed freedom and individual liberty. Under Adolf Hitler, Germany adopted socialism, dramatically increased government spending and raised taxes to astronomical levels. Under Adolf Hitler, abortion became legal in Germany, the government took over health care and Christianity was pushed out of the public schools and out of public life. To prove all of these points, I am going to use extensive quotes from two sources. Kitty Werthmann was a child living a peaceful life in Austria when Hitler took over her nation. Her eyewitness accounts about what life was like under Nazi Germanyare invaluable. In addition, I will also be quoting extensively from author Bruce Walker. He is the author of a book entitled "The Swastika Against The Cross: The Nazi War On Christianity", and during his years of research he has uncovered some absolutely jaw dropping stuff. After reading the information in the rest of this article, there should be no doubt that the United States is becoming just like Nazi Germany.

Nazi Germany shows us what happens when the state becomes god. Adolf Hitler was certainly more racist than the leaders of America are today, but other than that there are very few differences between the road that Adolf Hitler led Germany down and the path that the United States is being led down.

Asimov's Foundation Series, Modern Relevance?

http://www.scificool.com/images/2010/02/asimovfoundation.jpg

I've been reading Isaac Asimov's Foundation series. One paragraph from
the Psychohistorians makes me feel a thread in the ether just out of
my grasp, but I'm reaching:

"The fall of Trantor," said Seldon, "cannot be stopped by any conceivable effort. It can be hastened easily, however. The tale of my interrupted trial will spread through the Galaxy. Frustration of my plans to lighten the disaster will convince people that the future holds no promise to them. Already they recall the lives of their grandfathers with envy. They will see that political revolutions and trade stagnations will increase. The feeling will pervade the Galaxy that only what a man can grasp for himself at that moment will be of any account. Ambitious men will not wait and unscrupulous men will not hang back. By their every action they will hasten the decay of the worlds. Have me killed and Trantor will not fall within five centuries but within fifty years and you, yourself, within a single year."
There is something there, I feel it. Good science fiction always seems
to have a libertarian core of optimism to it.

Dangerous Tactic: U.S. Special Operations Throughout The World

And the warfare state marches on...

The US maintains the bulk of its special operations forces in the Middle East and Iran is obviously becoming a very likely target. Some experts say that the "new model" is already being tested there, which explains the recent explosions at the country's nuclear installations and attempts to kill its leading nuclear scientists.

What McRaven's commandos, backed by Navy SEALs definitely can do, however, is topple governments Washington does not like.

US special operations forces secure all of the world's continents. This is not a script for yet another Hollywood blockbuster. It's a pretty real strategy, devised by Admiral Bill McRaven.

McRaven, the special operations commander who led last year's Navy SEAL raid against Osama bin Laden, seeks a White House go-ahead to engage his men in circumvention of the Pentagon's standard procedure.

Presently, to dispatch US troops overseas requires an official request from the head of the regional US military command. The request goes to the Joint Chiefs of Staff and, upon thorough consideration, is submitted for signature by the Secretary of Defense. This is exactly the procedure Admiral McRaven wants to go around to be able to deploy US commandos to where the Pentagon believes they are needed the most – above all in Asia, Africa and Latin America.

Similar proposals have earlier been turned down by the heads of regional US military commands, wary of the special ops' growing clout, and by the State Department, which feared the commando operations could infringe upon other countries' sovereignty. Which, by the way is exactly what happened when the killing of Osama bin Laden on Pakistani soil put Washington on a collision course with Islamabad.

According to Western media reports, citing Obama administration officials in Washington, Admiral McRaven's proposal is still being considered, but even if the White House says no, the Admiral is almost sure to get additional funding and a permission to hire more tough guys for special operations in various parts of the globe.

The US maintains the bulk of its special operations forces in the Middle East and Iran is obviously becoming a very likely target. Some experts say that the "new model" is already being tested there, which explains the recent explosions at the country's nuclear installations and attempts to kill its leading nuclear scientists.

At the same time, you will need more than commandos only to force the closure of the Iranian nuclear program. Here you need bombs and missiles which are in ample supply at the US Fifth Fleet that was recently deployed to the Persian Gulf.

What McRaven's commandos, backed by Navy SEALs definitely can do, however, is topple governments Washington does not like. Examples of this abound – suffice it to mention the so-called Arab Spring, which started less than a year ago. It looks like the next stop before an attack on Iran is Syria where McRaven's tactic, so far, is yielding no tangible fruit.

Fox News Questions Media Matters’ Tax-Exempt Status

On Wednesday, Fox News' Happening Now gathered together a panel to discuss a slew of recently-released internal memos pointing to an organized effort by the watchdog group Media Matters to bring down Fox News and its parent corporation News Corp. What, they wondered, does this mean for the group's tax-exempt status?

Earlier today, Daily Caller senior online editor Vince Coglianese paid a visit to Fox News' Fox & Friends to shed more light on the site's ongoing investigation and exposé into the liberal media watchdog group. He explained that the group's tax-exempt status basically amounts to "taking a government subsidy in order to attack a for-profit company like Fox News and News Corp. So you have a company that is free of tax, federal taxes, people can donate to and have a tax write-off and it's classified as an 'educational charity,' but, by any conventional standard, doesn't meet any of those metrics."

Fox News explained that, according to tax law experts, internal documents showing that executives at Media Matters considered hiring private investigators to look into the private lives of Fox News hosts, commentators and executives provide evidence that the group is, at the very least, "stretching the boundaries" of what a tax-exempt organization should be doing.

And, according to an internally-circulated memo sent out by senior fellow Karl Frisch in 2009, Media Matters characterized Fox News has "the central enemy and antagonist of the Obama administration, our Congressional majorities and the progressive movement as a whole," adding that "we must take Fox News head-on in a well-funded, presidential-style campaign to discredit and embarrass the network, making it illegitimate in the eyes of consumers."

Daily Beast columnist Kirsten Powers found news of Media Matters' "mission" to take down Fox News disappointing because "overall, they serve a purpose, they monitor the media and they find where they think there's bias or mistakes."

NY Daily News columnist Andrea Tantaros, meanwhile, applauded Republicans looking into and asking questions about Media Matters' activities and how the group undermines its own claims to be a charity while all the while gunning for a pro-profit news outlet because they "don't like" their reporting.

And American Conservative Magazine's Jim Pinkerton noted that, not only does Fox News have a "right to exist and not be defamed," but it also exists as a member of the media with First Amendment rights.

So is any of this enough to strip Media Matters of its tax-exempt status?

[...]

I'd like to see both Media Matters and Fox bite the dust. For that matter, get rid of CNN, ABC, NBC, and the rest of the "authorized" journalists and the mainstream media outlets.

Families Who Reject Inoculations Told to Find a New Physician; “Contagion” in Waiting Room Is a Fear

Of course like most of what we hear and see in the "News" – The OPPOSITE IS TRUE. Children that have been Vaccinated are, in many cases, contagious to our children who do not take the needle.

If your doctor refuses to treat your child because of this, he (or she) is doing you a favor! What? Yes… That is NOT the physician you want seeing your children.

We have waived vaccines in our family and have a healthy, well adjusted, happy, little boy; whom almost never gets sick!

Think for yourselves!! DO NOT LET THE MEDICAL INDUSTRIAL COMPLEX SCARE YOU INTO POISONING YOUR CHILDREN!

More Doctors 'Fire' Vaccine Refusers

WSJ

Pediatricians fed up with parents who refuse to vaccinate their children out of concern it can cause autism or other problems increasingly are "firing" such families from their practices, raising questions about a doctor's responsibility to these patients.

Medical associations don't recommend such patient bans, but the practice appears to be growing, according to vaccine researchers.

DOCFIRE

Dr. Allan LaReau in Michigan stops treating families who refuse to vaccinate their children. 'You feel badly about losing a nice family,' he says.

Israel Supporting West's Efforts on Iran

Iran Loads Up First Home-Made Nuclear Fuel

Iran has started loading domestically made nuclear fuel at a major research reactor for the first time - a defiant move in response to toughening Western sanctions.

My biggest qualm with the false flag attacks on Iran's nuclear energy efforts are the validity of the concerns from the US, or the lack thereof.

The loading ceremony at the plant in Tehran was attended by President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, and filmed on state TV.

Iran's deputy nuclear negotiator Ali Baqeri said the country had developed its own nuclear fuel because the West had refused to help them. Read More

The US has no valid points of contention, as Iran's nuclear energy efforts are not a threat to the US, nor are they more than another Weapons of Mass Destruction false flag. The US has a history of outright lying in order to justify deposing governments of sovereign nations that refuse to accept its interference. Good on Iran and its supporters for standing up to the global bully.

The Case for Publicly Owned Internet

"In cities and towns across the U.S., a familiar story is replaying itself: Powerful companies are preventing local governments from providing an essential service to their citizens. More than 100 years ago, it was electricity. Today, it is the public provision of communications services."

http://www.bloomberg.com/news/2012-02-15...wford.html

A true co-operative, public-owned communications system that includes telephone and Internet services is needed to prevent governments and corporations from curtailing the ability to share information in a digital era.

The Failure to Understand the Value of a Resource-based Currency

It turns out that the humble penny is a pricey coin. Specifically, each new penny coined by the government costs 2.4 cents.

My point here is not to remind you that pennies are anachronisms that ought to be dispensed with entirely—though that is true. This is actually a story about the federal budget, and why it's so tough to manage.

Doing away with a currency that costs more to mint than its numismatic value holds ignores the problems with a fiat currency. Manipulation of currency to benefit those at the to of the heap are what has led to devaluation and to the imbalance of the value of a penny.

Yesterday, President Obama unveiled his budget for 2013—a plan for everything that the government will spend money on and where it intends to get that money. I won't bore you with the details, since this document won't survive first contact with Congress and doesn't offer a final picture of what government activity will look like next year, although it does reveal a lot about what the president thinks is important.

Most won't bore you with the details because they can't figure out where the money comes from either. We're broke, but our representatives haven't received the memo.

One good idea in the budget is to change the way we make those expensive pennies and nickels (which cost 11.2 cents each), using cheaper metals to do the job. Pennies are now made mostly of zinc, and nickels have more copper than nickel. If we switch up the raw materials—perhaps to an aluminum alloy, like other advanced economies, or else industrial porcelain—the Treasury Department estimates we could save about $100 million a year.

Of course, $100 million a year sounds awesome, but in budget terms it's a tiny amount of money—less than one-100th of 1 percent of the entire $3.7 trillion the president proposes spending next year.  But like everything that matters, budgeting is a game of inches, so lopping off small stuff—especially no-brainer waste like this—is a good way to find breathing room as you work your way up to the big stuff

Did I say no-brainer waste? This is where it gets interesting. Even though this idea seems like pragmatic good government, there are plenty of people who think it's a bad idea. The Wall Street Journal wrote about many of these naysayers in 2010, the first time the president proposed the idea:

Zinc miners. Believe it or not, the people who sell zinc the government uses to make pennies aren't eager for them to change their ways. Big Zinc spends a lot of time lobbying to keep pennies the way they are—even funding an organization called Americans for Common Cents to lobby Congress to keep the penny around.

People who conflate coins' value with the metal in them. Plenty of people think that coins are valuable because they have valuable metal in them, but that's not how it works: Our money is valuable because we agree to use it as a medium of exchange. Supply and demand determines the rest; U.S. money hasn't depended on the price of any metal since 1971. People who believe that there's a scenario that involves selling their pennies to the local zinc smelter would probably be better off hoarding bullets instead. There are also a lot of people who just plain like pennies and think new ones won't be as nice.

Businesses that rely on coin-operated vending machines. Folks worry that vending machines, laundromats, coin-counting machines, and parking meters will need to be adjusted en masse if coins' weight or conductivity (two common ways machines identify change) shifts. This is a pretty reasonable concern, but when was the last time you used a penny or a nickel at a vending machine?

When all is said and done, these reasons probably aren't worth the extra $100 million it costs us not to change the composition of the coins. But these people think about pennies a lot, and they spend money to let the government know what they think. When was the last time you thought about the penny, much less mentioned it to an elected representative?

Now imagine how this dynamic plays out when it comes time to cut outlays on more complex, more expensive issues like health care and national security, which affect nearly everyone and touch businesses across many sectors. The same thing happens with other deficit-drivers, like the Bush administration's tax cuts or the raft of tax breaks we give out to individuals and corporations.

The penny paradox is a dilemma at the heart of democratic government—a engaged, concentrated group of people who benefit from spending can keep it going, even if it's not in the broad public interest. Conservatives and other folks with an anti-government bias see this dynamic as one more reason to keep the government out of the spending business. Meanwhile, those of us who think the government can do more harm than good see this as a problem to be solved through better institutional design, a more engaged citizenry, and better politicians—if we can find them.

So if you're ever wondering why Washington's fights over the budget seem wildly out of proportion or overly gridlocked, remember that cutting waste and focusing on top priorities is harder than it looks. And the next time you hear someone complaining about our sky-high deficits, ask them how much it costs to make a penny.

[...]

It's long since time to return to a resource based currency system, one that benefits the economy as a whole and not the traders or bankers. The gold standard kept us afloat for years, but abandoning it showed how unstable fiat money is from its start. It's time to return to real money and free markets while we can still re-localize.

People Are Awesome, Politicians not so Much...

The trouble is that most people are not that outgoing, but those with the means to do so are less likely, and are few and far between. Politicians, unlike statesmen, are only this outgoing when trying to drum up election support.

gaspump

It seems we're in the midst of a trend. While millions of Americans remain jobless and poor, many are powering through the best way they know how: by being kind to one another. They're giving away flowers, they're buying each other coffee, they're offering words of kindness and respect to those who need them most. These aren't million-dollar gifts we're talking about, but they are significant if only for the fact that they're happening at a time when almost everyone is strapped for resources.

The latest development in this growing movement is happening in southern Florida, where an energized county commissioner, Jose "Pepe" Diaz, is spearheading an effort to encourage local businesses to care for their communities. That effort began on Monday afternoon, when Diaz and nonprofit group Neighbors 4 Neighbors convinced a Sweetwater gas station to offer gas for the insanely low price of $2.14 per gallon today (get it?). In Florida, where the average price of a gallon of gasoline is nearly $4, Diaz's offer was one many drivers couldn't refuse. "We can't wait 'til a hurricane or a disaster to come to deal with your neighbors in a neighborly form," Diaz told Miami's CBS affiliate.

Diaz, along with Sweetwater Mayor Manuel Marano, showed up to pump gas and wash drivers' windows. Their hope is that small kindnesses dispersed throughout the community will spur others to give back. And, at the very least, it's got them excited. "It's not all about raising taxes and making laws," Marono said of his job. "It's about giving back to the community to help them out."

World Acts to Control Global Arms Trade, UN Talks Begin this Week

The global arms trade, which produces two bullets for every person on the planet every year and the weapons that kill 1,500 people each day, is facing the first worldwide effort to control it. An unprecedented treaty that would attempt to restrict arms sales is expected to be drawn up at talks in the United Nations this week. A campaign for such an agreement, begun six years ago by Nobel laureates, faces attempts by the United States and Russia to water the treaty... [Independent (Dublin), via GunPolicy.org]

Global talks to disarm the populace are never rooted in public safety or individual freedoms. They are primarily methods of control.

Obama’s Ohio Attack Dogs

I'm relieved Obama for America is pushing every class warfare chip to the middle of the table. If Americans get a better look at Progressivism's ugly mug and still vote Democrat in November, the country deserves to go bankrupt!

To simplify mockery of their candidate for those of us with apolitical day jobs, Obama for America has assembled "Truth Teams" – Attack Watch in more sheepish clothing – in a handful of swing states. At the Ohio Truth Team announcement, it was suggested that crashing GOP events may be on the Obama cheerleaders' agenda.

It's ruff defending a failed president!

It's ruff defending a failed president!

Leveraging deranged protestors for the Progressive brand of populism is nothing new for Ohio Democrats, so The Columbus Dispatch tried to confirm the insinuation:

"We'll do it in an appropriate, mindful way, recognizing the importance of the conversation," said Ohio Democratic chairman Chris Redfern, also a truth team member. "The truth team, we envision, will be more of a rapid response, taking a message directly at locations where those individuals who align with super PACs or organizations in support" of GOP presidential hopefuls are present.

Emphasis mine. Given his history, Ohio Democratic Party Chairman Chris Redfern is a hilarious addition to an Obama group allegedly aiming for mature conversations. In the waning days of the 2010 campaign:

[...] the camera was rolling as Redfern leveled the expletive at critics in the Tea Party, who, in his words, believe health care is a privilege, not a right.

"If your kids are going to graduate from college, now he or she gets health care, your heath care, while he or she looks for a new job," Redfern said. "It's in the very base terms we win these arguments. Every time one of these (expletive deleted) says, excuse my language…"

The deleted expletive rhymed with "truckers," and unless you count his perfunctory "excuse my language" as he remembered a news crew was in the union hall Chris Redfern never apologized. Instead, the Ohio Democratic Party used his rage-filled outburst as a fundraising opportunity:

In the e-mail, Redfern then asks for a $10 donation to his "swear jar" to "help the Ohio Democratic Party and its candidates get our message out and stick it to our opponents."

He wrote, "I have been amazed by the outpouring of support the Ohio Democratic Party has received after I spoke out forcefully and unapologetically on behalf of working families."

What a mindful, appropriate brush for Chris Redfern to paint his political opponents with! Now that the Super Obama Truth Squad has recruited the hateful creep who called the enemies of Obama's totalitarian health insurance plan F-ers at a 2010 union event, they're armed to the teeth with truth!

Tell us, Ohio Obama Truth Ninjas: How many of the 2.2 million Ohioans who voted to block Obamacare's key mandate last November are F-ers? If it's true that Ohio voters who oppose your preferred statist policies are F-ers, what is it we're guilty of effing?

A New Declaration | The Occupied Wall Street Journal

We hold these truths to be self-evident:

That the real, physical world is the source of our own lives, and the lives of others. A weakened planet is less capable of supporting life, human or otherwise.

Thus the health of the real world is primary, more important than any social or economic system, because all social or economic systems are dependent upon a living planet.

It is self-evident that to value a social system that harms the planet's capacity to support life over life itself is to be out of touch with physical reality.

That any way of life based on the use of nonrenewable resources is by definition not sustainable.

That any way of life based on the hyper-exploitation of renewable resources is by definition not sustainable: if, for example, fewer salmon return every year, eventually there will be none. This means that for a way of life to be sustainable, it must not harm native communities: native prairies, native forests, native fisheries, and so on.

That the real world is interdependent, such that harm done to rivers harms those humans and nonhumans whose lives depend on these rivers, harms forests and prairies and wetlands surrounding these rivers, harms the oceans into which these rivers flow. Harm done to mountains harms the rivers flowing through them. Harm done to oceans harms everyone directly or indirectly connected to them.

That you cannot argue with physics. If you burn carbon-based fuels, this carbon will go into the air, and have effects in the real world.

That creating and releasing poisons into the world will poison humans and nonhumans.

That no one, no matter how rich or powerful, should be allowed to create poisons for which there is no antidote.

That no one, no matter how rich or powerful, should be allowed to create messes that cannot be cleaned up.

That no one, no matter how rich or powerful, should be allowed to destroy places humans or nonhumans need to survive.

That no one, no matter how rich or powerful, should be allowed to drive human cultures or nonhuman species extinct.

That reality trumps all belief systems: what you believe is not nearly so important as what is real.

That on a finite planet you cannot have an economy based on or requiring growth. At least you cannot have one and expect to either have a planet or a future.

That the current way of life is not sustainable, and will collapse. The only real questions are what will be left of the world after that collapse, and how bad things will be for the humans and nonhumans who come after. We hold it as self-evident that we should do all that we can to make sure that as much of the real, physical world remains intact until the collapse of the current system, and that humans and nonhumans should be as prepared as possible for this collapse.

That the health of local economies are more important than the health of a global economy.

That a global economy should not be allowed to harm local economies or land bases.

That corporations are not living beings. They are certainly not human beings.

That corporations do not in any real sense exist. They are legal fictions. Limited liability corporations are institutions created explicitly to separate humans from the effects of their actions—making them, by definition, inhuman and inhumane. To the degree that we desire to live in a human and humane world—and, really, to the degree that we wish to survive—limited liability corporations need to be eliminated.

That the health of human and nonhuman communities is more important than the profits of corporations.

We hold it as self-evident, as the Declaration of Independence states, "That whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these ends [Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness], it is the Right of the People to alter or abolish it. . . ." Further, we hold it as self-evident that it would be more precise to say that it is not the Right of the People, nor even their responsibility, but instead something more like breathing—something that if we fail to do we die.

If we as a People fail to rid our communities of destructive institutions, those institutions will destroy our communities. And if we in our communities cannot provide meaningful and nondestructive ways for people to gain food, clothing, and shelter then we must recognize it's not just specific destructive institutions but the entire economic system that is pushing the natural world past breaking points. Capitalism is killing the planet. Industrial civilization is killing the planet.

Once we've recognized the destructiveness of capitalism and industrial civilization—both of which are based on systematically converting a living planet into dead commodities—we've no choice, unless we wish to sign our own and our children's death warrants, but to fight for all we're worth and in every way we can to overturn it.

Al-Qaeda Backs US Regime Change in Syria

It is now a matter of established public record that the "Libyan rebels" the US, through the UN and NATO, funded, armed, trained, recognized politically, and even provided special forces and air support for, were in fact led by the Libyan Islamic Fighting Group (LIFG), listed by the US State Department (page 1) as a "Foreign Terrorist Organization." Two West Point reports confirm that LIFG was formally joined with Al Qaeda with many of its top leaders constituting the core of Al Qaeda's upper echelons. These reports also confirm that LIFG fighters were operational in both Afghanistan and Iraq, killing US and British troops and that the vast majority of their fighters were recruited from the Libyan cities of Benghazi and Darnah. In 2011, it would be these two cities that served as the epicenter of NATO-backed resistance against Qaddafi.

More recently it was exposed by French independent reporter Thierry Meyssan of VoltaireNet.org that LIFG commander Abdul Hakim Belhaj has left the NATO bombed city of Tripoli and is now directing the "Free Syrian Army" from the border of Turkey (a NATO member since 1952).

In the wake of growing international anger toward Wall Street, London, and its NATO forces, led by Russia and China's vetoing of their UN Security Council resolution designed to tip off another foreign military intervention, this time in Syria, the corporate media is now reportingthat Al Qaeda has called on its supporters to "join the uprising against Assad's "pernicious, cancerous regime."" We are expected to believe that Al Qaeda – allegedly depraved, beheading, civilian bombing, trade tower-toppling modern-day Huns – had pinned their hopes on the UNSC to resolve the Syrian conflict through the mechanisms of "international rule of law" and are only just now mobilizing their forces to act after the "disappointing" Russian and Chinese veto. It is a narrative as bizarre as it is contradictory.

Doesn't leave much faith in our government, does it? Those groups they tell us through lame stream media that we are fighting against ate the ones they back to overthrow another sovereign nation. Not that the warfare state hasn't been doing that for decades...

Doomsday Rprt:3 MILLION PREPPERS IN AMERICA Are Getting Ready For End Of The World

In the autumn of 2008, as Presidential hopefuls sparred over whether we had entered a recession or not and well before the onset of the most serious global crisis since the 1930′s, trend forecaster Gerald Celente advised his Trends Journal subscribers to prepare for the worst and plan for the best. "It will be," warned Celente , "like nothing we've ever seen in our lifetime."

The aware and prepared … those understanding just how out of control society would become, and those who had acquired the skills for survival would stand the best chance of navigating the chaos safely.

But Americans were not prepared. Not by a long shot

Very few had the foresight to predict that the economic system and social fabric of our nation would be threatened with upheaval and disarray. But some, whether through independent education or through intuition, deduced that there was a real possibility of a system shock so significant that life as we know it could be on the verge of a major paradigm shift – perhaps even a complete collapse of our economy and resource infrastructure .

Congress Left in Dark on DOJ Wiretaps

A Senate staffer was tasked two years ago with compiling reports for a subcommittee about the number of times annually the Justice Department employed a covert internet and telephone surveillance method known as pen register and trap-and-trace capturing.

But the records, which the Justice Department is required to forward to Congress annually, were nowhere in sight.

That's because the Justice Department was not following the law and had not provided Congress with the material at least for years 2004 to 2008. On the flip side, Congress was not exercising its watchdog role, thus enabling the Justice Department to skirt any oversight whatsoever on an increasingly used surveillance method that does not require court warrants, according to Justice Department documents obtained via the Freedom of Information Act.

The mishap is just one piece of an ever-growing disconnect between Americans' privacy interests, and a Congress seemingly uncommitted to protecting those interests.

The reports show that, from 2004 to 2008, the number of times this wiretapping method was employed nearly doubled, from 10,885 to 21,152. Judges sign off on these telco orders when the authorities say the information is relevant to an investigation. No probable cause that the target committed a crime — the warrant standard — is necessary.

The Justice Department, beginning in late 2010, has only published the reports from 2004 to 2009, the year it obtained 23,895 judicial orders to conduct such surveillance. It did not immediately comment on whether the 2010 and 2011 reports have been compiled and sent to Congress, or explain why the mishap occurred.

Internet security researcher Christopher Soghoian recently obtained e-mails via a two-year FOIA process confirm for the first time that Congress was left out of the loop for at least the years 2004 to 2008. Using FOIA, he and others have crowbarred from the Justice Department the reports from 1999 to 2009.

"This is an important surveillance tool," Soghoian said in a telephone interview. "In addition to showing that DOJ is lazy and not obeying the law, the most notable thing here is that Congress was asleep at the wheel."

The handful of government e-mails (.pdf) Soghoian obtained confirm for the first time that Congress was left out of the loop for at least the years 2004 to 2008. A law review article suggests the same for years 1999 through 2003.

Rep. Nita Lowey’s Husband Invests $350,000 in Fund Founded by Insider Trading Suspect

Sweet irony...

Rep. Nita Lowey (D-NY) support for a bill banning members of Congress from using insider information to enrich themselves is being overshadowed by a report by the Wall Street Journal that the congresswoman's husband, Stephen Lowey, invested $350,000 in a fund co-founded by Rajat Gupta, a former Goldman Sachs board member facing criminal insider-trading charges.

Rep. Lowey's husband says his decision to invest $350,000 since 2008 in a fund run by New Silk Route Growth Capital should not reflect negatively on his wife:

Neither Mrs. Lowey nor I know Mr. Gupta, have ever met him or have had any dealings with him at all. It's not her [Rep. Nita Lowe's] investment. She had nothing to do with it.

Between 2006 and 2011, one of New Silk Route's co-founders, Parag Saxena, contributed more than $8,000 to Rep. Lowey's congressional campaign funds.  According to the Wall Street Journal's report:

Mr. Lowey, a lawyer, said he committed $500,000 in 2008 to New Silk Route, which focuses on investments in India, because he and his wife had a relationship with another New Silk Route co-founder, Parag Saxena, whom he called "a neighbor and a friend" in Westchester County. Mr. Lowey has made several payments building toward that commitment but has not yet met it, he said….

Mr. Lowey made contributions to New Silk Route in 2010, including one after The Wall Street Journal first reported that Mr. Gupta was involved in the federal insider-trading investigation.

Mr. Lowey said all his investments in New Silk Route since 2008 have stemmed from requests for more capital by the fund. He said his investment was down by roughly $30,000 at the end of 2010 but was unsure of its current value. "If there were any smoke here, that's one thing," Mr. Lowey said. "But there's nothing here."

Last Thursday, Rep. Nita Lowey joined 416 other members of the House of Representatives in passing the STOCK (Stop Trading On Congressional Knowledge) Act to ban members of Congress from using their positions of power to enrich themselves.

The Pentagon’s Sequester Gamble

The 2013 Pentagon budget reflects the Obama Administration's unwillingness to embrace strategic change that would allow far larger cuts. And by failing to propose such cuts, the Pentagon is refusing to avoid sequestration, the across-the-board cut of roughly ten percent from its accounts required under the Budget Control Act (BCA).

In proposing a military budget about six billion dollars lower than last year's, the Obama Administration has for the first time proposed a real cut in the non-war military budget, but much of that cut likely shifted to the war budget. The administration has also said that the Pentagon should spend less over the decade than previously planned, which would cause an eight percent cut to non-war spending—in the unlikely event that the plan holds. If we include war costs, the military budget has been falling since 2010 when war costs peaked. But keep in mind that the defense budget grew by over seventy percent in real terms since 1999, with the non-war portion roughly doubling.

The BCA requires a $54 billion cut to Pentagon spending in January 2013, applied across spending accounts, with the possible exception of personnel costs, which the president can elect to shield. That sequestration is a consequence of the super committee's failure to produce a deficit reduction plan. After sequestration, Pentagon spending (leaving out the wars and other defense-related costs outside DoD but counted in the national defense budget function) would be $478 billion, about what it was in 2007 in real terms.

The text of the BCA suggests that sequestration occurs regardless of the size of the budget Congress passes. That would mean that the Pentagon cannot distribute the 2013 cuts according to a strategy and thus avoid sequestration. In the remaining eight years the law covers, by contrast, the Act imposes a Pentagon spending cap and sequesters appropriations above that level.

As the year goes on, Pentagon leaders will increasingly complain about what the Secretary of Defense calls the "goofy meat axe approach" of sequestration, which supposedly prevents them from making intelligent choices. Those hearing the complaints should be aware that while the BCA makes the size of the cuts inevitable, their manner is not fixed. The Pentagon could have smart cuts, but it prefers to push for none by pretending dumb cuts is the only alternative.

Massive Global Political Awakening (video) | COLLAPSENET:
This video was made in 2009. I just saw it today for the first time. Consider how much more relevant and telling it has become in the time since. Step back after watching and recalibrate your mind to the truth of it, and the reality of the evil that lies at the heart of those we oppose. -- MCR

Interpol accused after journalist arrested over Muhammad tweet

Saudi Arabia used Interpol's system to get journalist arrested in Malaysia for insulting the Prophet Muhammad on Twitter

Sounds to me like an extreme abuse of power by a group charged with the task of upholding justice.

SKYLINE OF KUALA LUMPUR

Police in Kuala Lumpur said Hamza Kashgari was detained at the airport following a request by Interpol on behalf of the Saudi authorities.
Interpol has been accused of abusing its powers after Saudi Arabia used the organisation's red notice system to get a journalist arrested in Malaysia for insulting the Prophet Muhammad.
Police in Kuala Lumpur said Hamza Kashgari, 23, was detained at the airport "following a request made to us by Interpol" the international police cooperation agency, on behalf of the Saudi authorities.
Kashgari, a newspaper columnist, fled Saudi Arabia after posting a tweet on the prophet's birthday that sparked more than 30,000 responses and several death threats. The posting, which was later deleted, read: "I have loved things about you and I have hated things about you and there is a lot I don't understand about you … I will not pray for you."
More than 13,000 people joined a Facebook page titled "The Saudi People Demand the Execution of Hamza Kashgari".
Clerics in Saudi Arabia called for him to be charged with apostasy, a religious offence punishable by death. Reports suggest that the Malaysian authorities intend to return him to his native country.
Kashgari's detention has triggered criticism by human rights groups of Malaysia's decision to arrest the journalist and of Interpol's cooperation in the process.
Jago Russell, the chief executive of the British charity Fair Trials International, which has campaigned against the blanket enforcement of Interpol red notices, said: "Interpol should be playing no part in Saudi Arabia's pursuit of Hamza Kashgari, however unwise his comments on Twitter.
"If an Interpol red notice is the reason for his arrest and detention it would be a serious abuse of this powerful international body that is supposed to respect basic human rights (including to peaceful free speech) and to be barred from any involvement in religious or political cases."
He called on Interpol to stand by its obligations to fundamental human rights and "to comply with its obligation not to play any part in this case, which is clearly of a religious nature".
Interpol, which has 190 member countries, has a series of coloured notice systems that police forces around the world use to pass on requests for help. Contacted at its headquarters in Lyon, France, the organisation did not immediately reply to requests for comment on the Kashgari case.
In response to past criticisms of the red notice system, it has said: "There are safeguards in place. The subject of a red notice can challenge it through an independent body, the commission for the control of Interpol's files (CCF)."
Last year Interpol was accused by Fair Trials International of allowing the system to be abused for political purposes when it issued a red notice for the arrest of the Oxford-based leader of an Asian separatist movement, Benny Wenda, who has been granted asylum and has lived in the UK since 2003.
