The failure of socialism (either Left- or Right-flavored) is that it tramples on the principles of self-ownership and non-aggression. With the state holding a monopoly on the use of force (taxation, inflation), it takes from you without consent, at threat of violence (risk prison to choose not to contribute to the state), and gives disproportionately to those who support that method of control and redistribution of fiat currency (false wealth, actually a debt-based system, and unsustainable).
